Advanced Technology of Headlights

Morning, evening, or '"Night'", what ever you're doing while reading this article. Hope you're having a good time. As

you can see, I have focused more on night because my today's article is about the new and latest technology of headlamps used by 'BIG 3' companies of Germany ,i.e Audi, B.M.W and Mercedes. We all know that innovation in automotive lighting has taken the next big step in forward since the introduction of techno with halogen, xenon and LED.

As we all know accident records show that night are much more dangerous for a person who is on road, either on car or a pedestrian. The reasons for these dangers are many but one of the most important is poor visibility. It actually happens when a person get blinded from a sharp bright light coming straight from a car's headlamp. So, what's the solution for this? How can we reduce such type of accidents? I think the people behind the development of latest technology in headlamps also confronted with same questions.

Audi one of the known car brand of world has produced a “Matrix Laser” system from which

they want to dazzle, not blind. This system was introduced in Germany which comprises of 50 independently controlled LED's to create almost 1 billion different light variations, adjusting for traffic situations and oncoming cars(you can the below images about Audi's lightning). Mercedes Benz the name for its class of cars and elegance is also on his way to capture the heart of people by designing the lights which not only be the best of its class but also the best in technology. Designers in Stuttgart(Mercedes birth place) are developing a style of lighting, called “Digital Light”. While the details are still minimal but most probably they will use one million “micromirriors” per headlight with four light points each. Each light point is comprised of 1024 in

dividual LED chips, giving the car a total 8192 LED lights.

When we're talking about the big 3 than how can we forget to add the third beauty on our list,i.e, B.M.W. , the company which first introduced the Xenon lighting in 1990, as the hot new technology for high-end car makers. Four round headlights has been the part of brand's image since the late 1980. Corona rings around each lamp made the brand more attached to a specific lighting setup than others. Adaptive High-beam Assist from BMW makes night time driving even safer. The name of company's lates

t technology in light is “Intelligent Headlight Technology”(IHT)

So basically what these big auto giants are doing is to develop such a technology which helps in split up of lights when a car is coming form opposite direction(you can see in below images) without losing focus on the road. As these new laser based diodes are smaller in size as comparative to LED's but are also effective in producing fairly bright lights which needed less space which allows these car manufacturers to design a piece of art. These lights not only flash brightly but also detect if a person is crossing the road and will make a lighted zebra crossing at the road itself. If we compare the range of these advanced laser lighting techniques with LED's, than it is more than 600 meters which are just double the LED's. If we considered a beautiful necklace on a well designed dress, so are the lights, which are beautifully designed so as to represent a headlamp as a necklace on a car. Below are the images of different lightning concepts by Big 3.
